Song Interpretation & Audition Technique w/Lawrence Street

Students will learn how to properly disect a song and make smart and creative choices in an effort to create active, truthful, and original performances. Students will focus on understanding the text, breath, phrasing, disction, placement, and the use of the body. Students will prepare and perform a 16 bar audition cut of their choice and receive feedback from the instructor. All students must come prepared with their own marked sheet music in a binder.

Most recently Mr. Duvall in the National Tour of Mean Girls. Broadway. Urinetown (dir. John Rando).  National Tours: Flashdance, Joe (dir. Sergio Trujillo), The Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Off-Broadway: Carmen Jones (dir. John Doyle), The Archbishop Supreme Tartuffe, (Classical Theatre of Harlem). Regional: Booker T. Washington in Ragtime (Barrington Stage Company), Harry in Company (Barrington Stage Company), Satchmo at the Waldorf (Seacoast Repertory). Training: M.Mus. The University of Akron; BFA in Music. Carnegie Mellon University.
